Biography
Allen J. Bailey, PhD, is a clinical investigator in the Division of Alcohol, Drugs, and Addiction at McLean Hospital. His research aims to understand heterogeneity among individuals with substance use disorders (SUD) and to improve treatment outcomes in SUD populations. He is particularly interested in understanding treatment response within the context of medications for opioid use disorder.
Dr. Bailey also provides clinical services specializing in cognitive behavioral therapy for depression, anxiety, and substance use problems, in addition to other evidence-based interventions such as acceptance and commitment therapy (ACT). In 2023, he was the recipient of the Sarles Young Investigator Award for Research on Women and Addiction. Previously, Dr. Bailey’s research was supported by the National Institute on Drug Abuse (NIDA) and the National Institute on Alcohol Abuse and Alcoholism (NIAAA).
