Women’s Mental Health Leadership Council

Making women’s mental health a philanthropic priority. Join or renew today.

McLean’s Women’s Mental Health Leadership Council is a growing group of influential women with a strong interest in and dedication to improving mental health care for women and girls, and a willingness to make women’s mental health a philanthropic priority.

The council’s charge is to learn about, advocate for, and support the ongoing work of McLean’s Division of Women’s Mental Health, whose mission is to innovate and improve mental health care for all women and girls throughout their life span.

Council members have the opportunity to learn about the unique factors involved in women’s mental health and McLean’s pioneering role in this field through a wide range of activities and initiatives.

Armed with up-to-date research and treatment information, council members advocate for women’s mental health by engaging around this topic with others in their spheres of influence. As advocates, members often speak openly about mental illness, thereby helping to spread awareness and reduce the stigma of a psychiatric diagnosis.

Members of the council support the research, educational, and clinical initiatives of the division through ongoing philanthropy and contribute at least $1,500 annually.

Why Join the Council?

The benefits of membership in the Women’s Mental Health Leadership Council are multifold.

The council offers a connection to a network of like-minded individuals in the greater Boston community and the field of mental health. Members have the common goal of helping to shape the direction of McLean’s work in the field of women’s mental health.

Council members have numerous opportunities to learn about groundbreaking research, partake in educational opportunities, and receive articles of interest and informational updates. Members also have the chance to attend scholarly lectures offered at McLean—like the continuing education series Grand Rounds—as well as tours and other McLean events.

Invitations to On Women’s Minds luncheons provide the chance to connect with other members. The events include participation in discussions and presentations led by McLean experts on topics such as depression and anxiety, women and addiction, eating disorders, healthy brain and aging, women and trauma, college transition, and the role of the family in the age of anxiety.

The council also hosts intimate small-group conversations with McLean researchers, clinicians, educators, and leaders on a wide range of topics.
